In this edition, Bioware gives in with two day grace period for registering copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic, Kinect Star Wars gets dancing, and the Jedi Faith is gaining traction worldwide.

For those who were upset about the lack of a grace period in Star Wars: The Old Republic, the developers have decided to heed the call and announced a two day period that will extend from the official launch time, 48 hours to December 22, 2011. They feel that this should be enough time for shippers to get the physical game into everyone’s hands on time and allow for delays, especially as we said before, during the holiday rush. We think it’s still a pretty short window for getting your code entered, but I suppose that it is better than nothing. Also on the official forum for the game, they announced that the 30 day free game time will start when you enter your payment method and registration code from your copy, so if you enter it late in the grace period, you’ll still get the 30 days, which is nice at least.

Also in the Lucas gaming world, some new details have arisen about Kinect Star Wars. It seems like one of the mini-games being presented is a dance game. Yeah, that’s right. Apparently if one can go by the description, you will have to control a gyrating dancer, presumably at Jabba the Hutt’s palace. Now we know the Kinect excels at this sort of thing, but really? It was bad enough that they had the Rancor going around destroying Tatooine like Godzilla, but this one takes the cake. The only good thing is that some will enjoy the scantily clad women that the ratings bureau submission seems to allude to. But in our opinion, we have to ask. Are they trying to mess up the game on purpose? What’s next? Yodacize? X-Wing you will lift! X-Wing you will drop! Now carry me you will! Pretend like you are training on Dagobah with Kinect Star Wars…That’s not actually a part of the game, I hope. I guess we’ll see in April if the new release date is not just another rumor.

And in other news, is the Jedi faith gaining ground? Apparently so and across the entire world, fans are flocking to a new interpretation of religious faith, all centering around the force. The official website for the movement says that the force is what binds us together, much like Yoda said to Luke and that the Jedi doctrine, if there is one, is to know right from wrong. In other words, love thy neighbor and acknowledge one’s place in the community. It’s a nice concept, it really is and it really boils down what the other religions have tried to complicate. And it’s this simplicity that has attracted many to its altar. A just released census poll in the Czech Republic indicated that 15,000 claimed that they were members of the Knights of the Jedi (as opposed to 1 million Catholics) and 4 million that didn’t answer. And in Britain, even in 2001, there were 390,000 that also said they were followers. The number was so great that some forms that ask religion there now include the Jedi Church as an option. Could Lucas be the new L. Ron Hubbard? Guess another 50-100 years will tell.

And that’s the news for this edition. Thanks for reading.
