Just thought we would do an update on the Star Wars Weekends at Disney Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida since tomorrow (May 20th) is the start. There are a lot of cool events going on.

Star Tours II: The Adventures Continue will be making it’s official debut with a galactic sized opening ceremony including as we’ve said Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and if rumor is true, George Lucas. There will no doubt also be dignitaries and executives from both Disney and LucasArts on hand, as well as costumed characters that will bring out the pageantry. The spectacle will be broadcast live over Disney Park’s YouTube Channel and the official Facebook page at 10am ET on May 20th.

Other events that will be each day of the weekends are not being simulcasted, but will no doubt wind up on YouTube. These include the Hyperspace Hoopla, a dance competition for Star Wars characters like Darth Vader, Princess Leia and others old and new, the Padawan Mind Challenge and Jedi Training Academy for kids, a look into the background of the film series and Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the many voices of James Arnold Taylor. And of course your favorites from the movies and animated series Clone Wars will also be on hand to take pictures and sign “autographs”, in addition to the Star Wars Disney characters. Exclusive merchandise will also be available.

Ashley Eckstein and James Arnold Taylor, that play the voices of Ahsoka Tano and Obi-Wan in Clone Wars, will be hosting all four weekends of the event with various celebrity guests appearing on different weekends.

On May 20-22, Anthony Daniels, Daniel Logan (Boba Fett as a child in Attack of the Clones), Dave Filoni (Star Wars Supervising Director).
On May 27-29, Anthony Daniels, Bruce Spence (Tion Medan from Revenge of the Sith) and Dee Bradley Baker (Captain Rex and All Clones from Clone Wars)
On June 3-5, Ray Park (Darth Maul), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett as an adult in the original trilogy), Matt Lanter (Anakin from Clone Wars)
On June 10-12, Ray Park (Darth Maul), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Tom Kane (Yoda from Clone Wars)

BTW, if you miss Anthony Daniels in Florida, there is a good chance he will be there for the opening of Star Tours II at Disneyland in California when it opens on June 3, 2011. He will also be the narrator for Star Wars in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 3rd and 4th.

All Star Wars Weekend events are included in the regular price of admission and there is no extra charge for passholders. Autographs will be signed for free, but you will need to get there very early as access is limited and on a first come, first serve basis through Disney’s FASTPASS system.

You can read more about opening weekend at these two links, which are the official PDF guides for the event from Disney.
