What type of main character hooks you right away?

What kind of main character instantly makes you want to give a book a real chance? The type that makes you think, “Okay, this is going to be interesting, I’m definitely reading this”?

Villains vibes gives me that hook immediately. It's why I fell in love with Thanos when he was introduced in Avengers Infinity Wars and Endgame.
