George Lucas, who usually is pretty good about fan based events and such, actually put a stop to a Star Wars Movie Marathon at a bar in Brooklyn that was to feature specialty drinks and costume contests during the showings. The Wicked Monk had planned to present all six movies for a night of fun and frolic, but the head Jedi was having none of it. He sent his squadron of lawyers descending down on the place like Darth on Leia’s ship and in the end, the establishment was forced to cancel. Actually he just sent a cease and desist letter. According to the communication, it was because they were charging, even though it was clear that entry was free and only the drinks would be charged for. Our guess it was probably because he wasn’t getting the licensing fees from it like theaters do. The bad PR he’ll get internationally was really not worth it for a local event.

The television special Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Adventure will make its debut on the Cartoon Network on July 22, 2011 in the US. The half hour show will feature many of the favorite characters in the comedic vein of the video games, where hilarity is handled through grunts, groans and other assorted noises. The story has C3PO and R2D2 left in charge of younglings at the Imperial Senate while Yoda, who was supposed to lead the tour, is called away to battle the evil Sith. Can he save the young ones from certain doom and the republic as well? We’ll have to find out when it airs, but it sounds like a lot of fun. No air date has been released for the UK.

If you are a Twilight Zone fan as well, you’ll probably remember the one called The Good Life in which a young man controlled his family through mind tricks, causing them to be terrified of him and do whatever he said. The episode was later redone in Twilight Zone: The Movie. What does this have to do with Star Wars? Well a creative sort took scenes from A New Hope and intermixed them with the black and white episode to give the impression that it’s Luke doing the terrorizing with his Jedi powers. The clip is under a minute and definitely worth a play.

And finally, do you play Call of Duty 4? Well then you’ll love this. The modders at BlackMonkey have created a mod for the game that will turn it into a Star Wars shooter. With seven areas to battle in including Bespin, Mos Eisley, and even the inside of that space worm, the new skin will turn your war simulator into an empirical war zone suitable for fighting Jedi and Sith alike. Everything has been modified from costumes, scenery and even laser blasts. The mod is available for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and you can get it here.

That’s the news for now. Thanks for reading…
