Star Wars Stuff for August 24 2011

We haven’t done a Star Wars stuff article in a bit, so we thought we’d look at some more weird items that have come out from the Star Wars universe, which will no doubt excite many of the fans out there.

Do you ever have moments in life where a Star Wars quote at just the right time in the voice of the original character would come in handy? Say you are trying to convince your child to do better in school. What better way to do that than by Yoda telling him he needs to do or do not, that there is no try? And you can by using this keychain to hang your keys from and have six different sound clips at your disposal to use in your every day life. For instance, what if you were in a business meeting and the boss is saying how sales are way down? A little comedy relief with C3PO saying “We’re doomed!” may lighten the mood, or your wallet when you get fired, but wasn’t it worth it? They also come with a light saber sound and the creepy breath of Darth Vader’s iron lung. We’ll leave uses for that one up to your imagination. Anyway, you can get these at ThinkGeek for $7.99 on sale.

They also have a set of keychains with one big button that plays a single sound such as the above mentioned light sabers, Darth Vader’s breathing, Chewy’s cry, Han Solo’s shot at Greedo, “May the Force Be With You” and the Death Star Battle. It’s not clear what the last one actually says or does. I hope it’s not “Let’s blow this thing and go home.” Somehow that might lead to an awkward moment during that first date if you were to hit it by accident. The one you get for $1.99 is purely random from six different choices and so the only way to guarantee that you’ll get one of each in a collect them all situation, ThinkGeek says, is by buying the whole set for $9.99. The problem is does anyone really need 6 keychains? Guess they’d be good for gifts. You can pick them up by clicking here.

If you find wearing Darth Vader’s armor and iron lung a bit too heavy to be comfortable, why not check out this T-Shirt? It’s got all the appropriate gadgets on the front to keep you breathing easier for a long time, or at least be casual in your Star Wars fascination. And it’s approved by the Dark Lord himself, George Lucas. You can acquire one at SuperHeroStuff.com, for the price of $21.99.

And finally for the real die hard fan, you can have R2-D2 serve as a projector for your movies. This little 20 inch high model provides a solid image up to 16 feet away and has a viewing area that is equivalent to an 280” screen. Even though it was upgraded from 800x600 to 1024x768, it still can’t properly handle 720p, but it will provide a clear enough picture to enjoy a movie from its internal DVD. It can even play audio CDs and MP3 discs. For iPods, there is a docking station also built in to play your tunes off your player through the 20 watt built in speakers. There is even a memory card and USB slot so that you can beam pictures and videos off your computer or camera. In Star Wars, the projection came out of the small lens on the top, but in this one, it actually is projected out of the large round protrusion, so no Leia holograms. The R2-D2 Projector was sold by Nikko and was a limited edition, and so they are hard to find except on Ebay where they go for $3800-4800 plus a rather large shipping cost from Japan. The descriptions are also in Japan. You may want to inquire as to whether the ones being sold are the upgraded ones or still the original before purchasing. Oh, and perhaps even neater than the projector itself is the really nifty Millennium Falcon remote, which looks just like the ship, while giving you command of everything R2-D2 does, which includes moving around the floor by remote and the ability to position him in a way that fits your screen or wall.

And that’s all the stuff we have time for this time around. See you next time.
