One of the big draws is obviously going to be the chance to test your skills against others in the ring of battle and The Old Republic will have three facilities in which to get your war credibility in the game against other live players in group and in individual duels.

We’ve already discussed Huttball, the new sport created by the Hutts that is a cross between American Gladiators, Wipe Out and Instant Death. It’s an arena whose object is very simple. Get the ball into the other team’s goal. But to get there is very hazardous with all sorts of things that will kill you like firepits, electric shocks, and of course, the defenders. The main rule is to survive. Violence is not only allowed, but encouraged much to the delight of the audience who doesn’t have to participate.

In the latest trailer for the game, the Voldstar PvP warzone pits one crew against the other to save the data core from being stolen. There is a faction that is set to assault the ship, while the other does what they can to stop the onslaught. Then the game switches up and the attackers are now the defenders and vice versa. It’s sort of like the traditional catch the flag in a spaceship type environment.

And finally there is Alderaan. Before it got blown up by the Death Star, it had some major firepower against enemies of both sides. And so Rebellion and Empire troops battle to control as many of these turret guns as possible in order to defend their territories. The side with the most is the victor.
There is, of course, a ton of opportunity in all of these places to really get in some serious fighting with light sabers, the force powers, and other more conventional methods. Sounds like a lot of fun indeed, at least for those good at what they do.
