Why do I feel “educated” but not actually better at doing things?

Hello. Lately I’ve been consuming a lot of self-improvement content and tools, and I definitely feel more informed - but in real situations (work, communication, quick thinking) I don’t really perform better. It’s like knowledge isn’t turning into ability. Has anyone else hit this gap between understanding something and actually being able to execute it?

Hey, I went through exactly this phase - feeling “mentally full” but not more effective. I saw a Reddit breakdown of MasterClass, Mindvalley, and RiseGuide, and it described this gap really clearly. What clicked for me was the difference between passive input and active output. riseguide in particular stood out because it doesn’t just explain concepts - it makes you produce responses under time pressure. That small shift from consuming to performing is what actually started closing the gap for me in real work situations.
