Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars

No matter which Lego series it was, whether it was Harry Potter, Indiana Jones or Star Wars, the games have always had a tongue in cheek look at the films that they are portraying. And in this case, Lego Star Wars III is right up there with their take on the wildly popular animated series. Along with the major battles and supercool gameplay, some of the plot points are just hilarious. Such as when Anakin crashes the fighter into the hanger bay and Obi-Wan just puts his head in his palm.

The action will be both localized and on a massive scale. If you’ve seen the series, huge battles are a big part of the show and in the first trilogy, there were incredibly complicated and epic. Lego Star Wars III is not going to disappoint in this regard. From just the trailer, we can see that incredible scale of war from space against large star destroyers to the mass Jedi attack on planet Geonosis. Some will require a one man army, while others put you in charge of a whole mass of troops to take care of business, allowing for both a personal talent and a command strategy.

And there is certainly plenty of weaponry to go around. Besides light sabers, there are rocket launchers, rapid fire guns, blasters, and more. And if that isn’t enough, force powers can move objects and take out enemies, while the force will encourage your success at cutting through a bulkhead like Qui-Gon Jinn did with his lightsaber in Phantom Menace.

In a unique video game feature, a single player will be able to jump between two different scenes whenever they want. So in one scene they might be fighting a major space battle, while switching to a private battle between Anakin and a group of storm troopers, both of which will be to reach an objective. If you have two players, each can work a different scene to reach that goal at the same time.

There will be no end of appearances by those who have been in the show, from the stars such as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme, Yoda, General Grievous to the obscure like Watto (or a character that looks like him). Game designers were really adamant about making sure a wide range of characters were represented in their Lego form.

The graphics, from the trailer, are really amazing. Every one gives you an amazing sense of depth and attention to detail. The scenes will be very familiar to those who watch the TV show regularly and have seen the movies. To others, these computer generations are much like the series, so if you like those in the game, you will like them in the show.

And of course, there are awesome sound effects and Lego’s own special Lego Talk which is basically a lot of grunts, sighs, screams and other non-word vocals that have made the game fun. You might not know what they are saying specifically, but you’ll definitely get the idea.

Lego Star Wars III is scheduled to be released on March 22, 2011 for all the major consoles (PS3,Wii,PSP,Nintendo DS, and Xbox 360 (not for Kinect though)) for a retail price of $49.99.
