There are four new titles are coming out in 2012 from Dark Horse set in the Star Wars Universe and they all look to be pretty interesting. The announcements were made at the Dark Horse Star Wars panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con.

A lot of talk has been about Boba-Fett coming back from the dead after being swallowed up by the Sarlacc. But Tom Taylor, who is one of the established writers of Star Wars, plans for the bounty hunter to meet his fate a different way. Instead, he is apparently murdered in cold blood, lying in the sand with blaster holes in him. But the question that the book will ask is who would want to avenge his death, as someone steps forward to do so, someone who they weren’t revealing. Could it be his son? Or someone we didn’t even know existed? Guess we’ll find out in Star Wars Blood Wars: Boba-Fett is Dead, coming to comic book stores everywhere in April 2012.

Darth Vader always did seem to be the kind of villain that didn’t play nice with others, and was sick of having to serve his master. Perhaps that is why he finally turned on Palpatine in the end. But what if Vader was actually made Emperor instead of Palpatine? That is the storyline of a five issue series that will explore the dark lord’s reign over the star systems, which is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. No doubt he would do so with an iron fist spreading his hatred and anger throughout the galaxy to recruit for the dark side, but is he any good as a ruler of the galaxy? The answer will be revealed in Star Wars: Darth Vader and The Ghost Prison, which hits shelves in May 2012.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is back with a new storyline in which the Republic and the Mandalorians are at war with each other, but the council does not want to get involved in the problem. But that doesn’t stop the Jedi Knights from ignoring their wishes after being led into the battle by Reven, who is very good at convincing them that they are needed. They even manage to convince the most pacifist of the Jedi, Zayne Carrick. Will he be able to hold the line against the enemy? Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – War is out in January 2012. Since it takes place around the same time as the game, it should be very popular with the MMO out by then.

And finally we have another five issue arc for the series Star Wars: Knight Errant, called Escape. Not that much detail was given, except that the comics would continue the story of the female Jedi Knight Kerra Holt, who battles the Sith by her own rules, and not those of the council. Look for this one to hit stores in June 2012.

It seems like so far away, but it’s closer than you think. So hang tight and enjoy a lot of the other Star Wars titles from Dark Horse in the meantime.
