A short time in a galaxy pretty close to home was a lot of creative people who thought it would be fun to pick on Star Wars and with George Lucas being a good guy at not getting upset at these fans, some really funny stuff was born. We found out that YouTube is full of these great videos from those who see the humorous side of the force and thought we would share them with you here, some of the highlights that we saw.

Everyone knows that Darth Vader can be somewhat of a jerk, but who knew that he was that way to his own crew. In this video we find out that he really does have a dark sense of humor.

Obi-Wan survived the battle of the fates, even though his master Qui-Gon Jinn didn’t. Too bad Kenobi wasn’t there to save the elderly Jedi. If he had only used force speed when the doors opened, the movie might have ended differently...

Before we’ve listed in the past, some really odd merchandise from the Star Wars universe. Things that made you wonder what LucasFilms was thinking when they licensed it, so we thought we’d look again and see what other bizarre things there are.

Since it’s going to be Valentine’s Day in a few weeks, why not treat your sweetheart to these valentines from Star Wars: The Clone Wars? Yes, there is nothing like a personal love note from Anakin Skywalker to get those feelings a flowing, which is an odd choice, especially considering that Jedi aren’t supposed to fall in love, but then it didn’t stop him from getting with Padme. But I digress. Amazon has a full range of card sets available for the Clone Wars and the movies. Star Wars Valentines<img...
Star Wars A New Hope Recasting

Okay, before you read the headline and freak out, there are no plans to remake any of the trilogies and that is a great thing. While we may have had our objections to the special editions, at least George didn’t authorize a full redo of the movies like some studios did with titles like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Clash of the Titans. But we got to thinking, who would play in such a remake if they did decide to make one. While there are all sorts of stars we’d like to throw into the Star Wars universe, just for fun, we thought we’d stick to what might actually work, rather than fantasizing too much. We asked our staff and this is who we came up with. Agree or disagree, leave us a comment.

Luke Skywalker – Justin Bieber. Just kidding. Although he does kind of have the hair for it and we could see him crying on the pole when told that Darth is his father later on, but our candidate would be Tobey McGuire. He’s already got a lot of experience...
Legoland California to Welcome Star Wars

In our games of 2011, we mentioned the relationship that Star Wars has had in the Lego Universe. There are lots of different building sets based on the work of George Lucas, not to mention the numerous video games. The connection has been noted in Legoland California with themed days and costumed characters like stormtroopers and Obi-Wan. But up until now, the park has focused on real world objects, people and locations, all in exquisite detail and all made of the little plastic blocks and speciality pieces. That is all about to change on March 31. The 128 acre park, which is already in the midst of a large expansion that includes a water park, and several rides and exhibits, will unveil the Star Wars area in it’s Miniland section. Working closely with LucasFilms, the scenes will surely showcase the films with much precision and care.

Sharing the area of the park with the incredible reproductions of New York and Las Vegas, the tribute to the work of Lucas...

You may have seen our article on Star Wars in the kitchen, but there are so many other crazy contraptions and uses of the characters, some hard to believe that someone even thought of them.

Tauntaun Sleeping Bag – In 2009, ThinkGeek thought it would be funny to have a sleeping bag based on the tauntaun from Empire Strikes Back. You remember the tauntaun? That is the creature that Han Solo got into in order to remain warm and he commented how he thought they smelled bad on the outside. Well, there were so many requests on where to buy one that a company actually made it for real and now they are available to the public. They go for around $80-100 and sell at such places as ThinkGeek.com and Skymall.

Dark Side Roasted Coffee – Ever wonder how Darth Vader stays awake so long and you never see him sleeping. It’s probably due to his choice of coffee. Yes, the Lord of the Sith only drinks Dark Side Coffee, available at ThinkGeek.com for 14.99 for a 12...
Star Wars Cast Where Are They Now

It’s been 30+ years since the trilogy and most of the actors that were in the original films are still around acting or doing conventions. We thought we’d look into some of their current projects and see what they are up to.

Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) has not done much in the way of film roles since Star Wars, partially because of a bad scar on his face, but he hasn’t disappeared. He is the voice of many characters that we know from the cartoons. He played Klaw from the Avengers, the Joker from the Batman: Animated Series, Red Skull from the Marvel Super Heroes, and a host of others. And it was just announced that he would reprise his role as the Joker in the newest Batman game.

Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) has a one woman show coming to HBO in which she talks about her sometimes dysfunctional life, providing tidbits into not only her character in Star Wars, but her famous parents Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. She can also be seen in Wright vs. Wrong, a...
Star Wars Director Lives On

The film Empire Strikes Back in the Star Wars series is one of the most endearing films of the trilogy and a lot of that has to go to the vision of Irvin Kershner. He directed Episode V and really sealed the role Star Wars had in culture. It is rare that one can take a middle of sequence film which had no beginning and no end and turn it into one that is fondly remembered as the best.

George Lucas knew that in order for Episode V to work, it would have to rely more on emotions than action and special effects. After all, this is where Luke would learn of his true nature and what it meant to help his friends. The story just oozed character interaction and George wanted someone who knew what he was doing, but wasn’t tainted by Hollywood’s push for special effects at the expense of its actors.

That is when the name Irvin Kershner came up. Kershner had a reputation for being very passionate about character development and human interaction. This is what George...

Here is a list of 40 most memorable lines from the first film in the original trilogy. We never realized how many great lines Carrie Fisher had as Princess Leia.

40. Where did you dig up that old fossil? – Han asking about Obi-Wan
39. They’re coming in too fast! – Luke talking about the tie fighters attacking the Millenium Falcon.
38. And I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations. And this is my counterpart R2D2. – C3PO introduces himself and his partner
37. This is some rescue. You came in here, didn't you have a plan for getting out?
36. I am not a committee! – Leia to Han during the argument on the Millenium Falcon
35. Traveling through hyperspace isn’t like dusting crops, boy! – Han Solo to Luke
34. Put that away. You’re going to get us all killed – Leia to Han in garbage compactor
33. Garbage chute. Really wonderful idea. What an incredible smell you've discovered! Let's get out of here! Get away from there... – Han, after falling in the slimy filth.
32. One...
What we learned from Star Wars

So many people grew up watching the movies, reading the books, visiting the theme park attractions, and it’s become such a legacy. But what does the story teach us and teach our kids? In this article, we’ll explore that question.

First off, riches are of no value if you don’t have friends to share it with. When Han wants to just leave with his promised loot, he feels that it’s in his best interest. But by the end of the film, he realizes that he’d become friends with Luke and Leia and they were more important than just the riches. Money isn’t everything. If it was, you wouldn’t see so many rich people doing drugs and alcohol.

Secondly, be brave in the face of fear. Yoda sends Luke into the cave to face his biggest enemy, Darth Vader, but when he strikes down the huge figure, his own face is in the mask. What was garnished from this was that fear will only get as far as one lets it. Some fear is a good thing, but being overtaken by it is not.

Doing whatever it...

Back in 1981, National Public Radio (NPR) Playhouse featured radio dramas that relied on good acting, sound effects and musical scores to tell their stories. Some of these were science fiction, but the most notable was Star Wars in 1981 and Empire Strikes Back in 1983. The films were adapted to extended episodes (13 and 10 respectively). Return of the Jedi was to be made as well, but NPR’s rocky relationship with their government benefactor at the time shelved the series. It would be 13 years before NPR would return to finish the original trilogy with a 6 part series that reunited cast and crew.
You know, the story of a young person finding out they are a future hero is as old as Hollywood itself and in all fairness, it didn’t start with George Lucas or end with JK Rowling. But since both film series are such icons in film culture, we thought it would be interesting to do some comparisons between them.

Let’s start with Luke and Harry Potter. Luke is an older...

Every fan of the series has wanted one thing besides seeing more of Leia in her slave bikini or Jar Jar hung from the rafters and that is to wield a real life light saber. In this quest, people have tried to use various items as pseudo sabers including things like fluorescent overhead bulbs which are quite dangerous if they break and are not recommended. And of course there have been plenty of toy versions like those sold in the stores and at carnivals that have the plastic that lights up and extends out when you swing it. Those might be durable enough for battle, but they look really hokey.|
Truly one of the most legendary villains in film history, Darth Vader is the epitome of evil. He is the character over the years we’ve all loved to hate. But from his early beginnings as Anakin Skywalker to his rise to become Darth Lord of the Sith, he’s had many actors play him.

Starting with the voice of Darth Vader in all the films, James Earl Jones is the most...

In the original Star Wars: A New Hope, at the time of the filming, there were almost no characters in the film that were not played by humans in costumes. Even in the most alien-centric scene at Mos Eisley SpacePort, it was easy to see that all of the inhabitants were people in various degrees of makeup and prosthetics. This is because it was really the only option available. Later of course, there were creatures added in via computer graphics to complete scenes Lucas had not been able to previously.|attachment.php?attachmentid=11&cid=18|100|57| |on_nl2br|0|0|0
